Why can't I just bang a nail in the wall?
Frankly, you can, but do you really want to take the risk?  If the picture is valuable
or has great sentimental value it will cost you a great deal more to repair the
damage if the nail falls out, than we will charge to come and hang it properly (and
securely) in the first place.

How high should my picture be hung?
There is no precise height.  It varies depending on a number of factors including
ceiling height, aspect (vertical or horizontal) what is underneath it (a picture hung
over a period fireplace is inevitably hung higher).  As a general rule, you need to
be able to look at the picture more or less at eye level.

Where should I hang a mirror?
It is often more a case of where not to hang a mirror.  Hanging a mirror opposite a
large picture window tends to be visually distracting.  Mirrors work best as both an
indirect light source and a means of creating visual space and are used to great
effect in darker, enclosed rooms, alcoves, in hallways or above fireplaces.

What should I do to avoid my pictures fading? 
Prints, photographs and especially watercolour paintings should not be hung in
areas where they are subject to direct sunlight as they will definitely fade.  Oil and
acrylic paintings are much more durable but generally positions that are bathed in
direct sunlight should be avoided. We would recommend having UV glass fitted to valuable artworks painted in fragile mediums (such as watercolours, etchings, gouache, pastel etc.)
